2.4Ghz Straight Dipole Antenna

Postby DanZ » Wed Aug 22, 2012 6:15 pm

Hey guys

I would just like to share my recent DIY "upgrade" of my Frsky 2.4Ghz receiver antennas. I was getting rather poor range with the stock cats whisker antennas, a little bit of research on RCgroups and I found that the tips of the antennas are generally cut to the wrong length to begin with. One can trim the antenna tips for increased performance however I decided to go one step further and make some straight dipole antennas.

Instructions on how to do this I found here ---> http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=20592034&postcount=128

I have noticed a dramatic increase in range. The last range check I did with stock antennas I was getting range check beeps within 10m, now with these antennas I got to 40m before first range check beep :ugeek:
